    Haramain High Speed Railway begins Makkah to Madinah trips tomorrow

    Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and governor of Makkah Region, will patronize the ceremony to resume operations of Haramain High Speed Railway trips between Makkah and Madinah, where he will visit the railway station at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah in conjunction with the launch of the first trip on Wednesday.

    On the occasion, Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Saudi Railways Organization Eng. Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser expressed appreciation for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince for their limitless support to the transport sector.

    Eng. Al-Jasser also expressed appreciation for Prince Khalid Al-Faisal gesture of attending the resumption of operations of the Haramain High Speed Railway highlighting it as a gesture of gratitude for workers in the project.

    The minister said that the trips that will operate between Makkah, Madinah and the railway station at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah would go through King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh.

    He also said that the Haramain High Speed Railway will operate in full capacity, noting that the daily full capacity reaches 54 trips, where one train can carry 417 passengers and travel at a speed of up to 300 kilometers per hour. It has taken into consideration the high density witnessed during the Umrah season in Ramadan and the increasing turnout on trips during Eid Al-Fitr.

    Eng. Al-Jasser also said that the train is fully prepared for the Hajj season, noting that the operational efficiency of trips takes into consideration the highest standards of quality and safety and allows multiple options, including the passengers’ needs of business and economy classes.

    The Haramain High Speed Railway is considered the biggest and latest transport project in the Middle East, and carries passengers between five modern stations connecting Makkah and Madinah over a length of 450 kilometers. —SPA
