The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has been embroiled in controversy surrounding the 2024 Hajj exercise, with a viral video circulating and falsely implicating the current Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, in alleged shady dealings.

However, it’s crucial to note that Professor Usman took office after the 2024 Hajj season was concluded and had no involvement in any wrongdoing.

The Media Support Team, led by Mallam Ibrahim Abubakar, and other concerned citizens have strongly denounced this development, emphasizing that Professor Usman’s presence at the public hearing was solely to observe in order to prepare for future challenges. It is an unhidden fact that apart from the fact that his tenure began after the alleged incidents, he had no hand in any of the NAHCON 2024 hajj activities and it’s essential to recognize and uphold his neutrality in this matter.

Allah has exposed the wicked and evil plot of mischief-makers, manifesting so soon, linking Professor Usman, also known as Pakistan, to the controversy, despite his lack of involvement. If they can conceive and hatch this obnoxious plan, only Allah knows what other evils they might have in their kitty, but like the Abu-Lahab and his wife accomplice, they will fail and Thier evil machinations will crumble like pack of cards.  This baseless accusation aim to tarnish Prof Usman’s reputation will not hinder the current leadership’s focus and proper preparations for the 2025.

The National Assembly recently confirmed Professor Saleh Usman as the 6th Chairman of NAHCON, and he has assumed office with a clear vision for the commission’s future. It’s essential to allow him to focus on his responsibilities without unnecessary distractions.

NAHCON has dissociated itself from the viral video, and concerned citizens urge those spreading false information to cease their malicious activities. The public deserves accurate and unbiased information, especially regarding sensitive matters like this.

In the interest of fairness and responsible journalism, it’s crucial to set the record straight. Professor Usman’s appointment was a significant development for NAHCON, and his leadership should not be undermined by baseless accusations.

The commission’s primary focus should be on preparing for the 2025 Hajj, ensuring a smooth and successful pilgrimage for Nigerian Muslims. With the application process for 2025 Hajj catering and accommodation services already underway, NAHCON’s attention should be on providing excellent services to pilgrims.

NAHCON’s structure, comprising the Executive Management, Board Members, and Departments, should work together seamlessly to achieve this goal. The commission’s mandate, as outlined in the NAHCON Act, should guide its actions and decisions.

As the investigation into the alleged mismanagement of the N90 billion Hajj subsidy continues, it’s essential to avoid spreading misinformation. The probe should be allowed to run its course, and those found guilty should face the consequences of their actions.

In the meantime, Professor Usman and the NAHCON leadership’s focus on the 2025 Hajj preparations should not be derailed by unfounded allegations.

As it were, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria deserves to operate without unnecessary distractions. The current leadership should be allowed to focus on its responsibilities, ensuring a successful 2025 Hajj for Nigerian Muslims. Baseless accusations and misinformation should be avoided, and the probe into the alleged mismanagement should be allowed to run its course.
