NAHCON sensitizes Ogun, Lagos pilgrims on Hajj Savings Scheme, announces FG’s approval of three more banks

As part of efforts to promote the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS), the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) conducted a sensitization program at the Ogun and Lagos State Pilgrims Welfare Boards.

The program aimed to equip Muslim pilgrims with knowledge and financial tools to perform Hajj.
Dr. Bar.Aliyu Abdulmumeen Abdulhameed, Head of the NAHCON HSS team, explained the scheme’s financial benefits and advantages of early savings. He announced the Vice President’s approval to include Taj Bank, Alternative Bank, and Lotus Bank in the scheme.
The Ogun State Executive Secretary, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, acknowledged the sensitization program’s timing but promised to educate pilgrims further and make HSS accounts mandatory for staff members.

Alhaji Lawal Taofeek, Lagos SPWB public relations officer, praised the initiative, sharing a testimony of how HSS assisted pilgrims in performing Hajj in 2024.
The Lagos State Board appealed to NAHCON to engage state governors and stakeholders, expressing readiness to follow NAHCON’s lead on HSS.
