Abuja – Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has been conferred with the title of Justice of Peace (JP) by May Peace Prevail On Earth International, an affiliate of the United Nations Department of Public Information.
The honor was announced on the United Nations International Day of Peace, observed on 19 September 2025, in recognition of Usman’s contributions to global peace and humanitarian efforts.
The award was presented by Auwal Ali Haladu, Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), along with Shamsuddeen Abba, the Head of Protocol for the organization. The ceremony underscored Usman’s broader impact beyond his role at NAHCON, highlighting his commitment to fostering peace and international cooperation.
In receiving the JP title, Prof. Usman conveyed appreciation for the recognition and emphasized the importance of peaceful engagement and ethical leadership in public service. He noted that peace and stability are essential for meaningful development programs, including those that support safe and well-coordinated religious pilgrimages.
Responding to questions, Haladu praised Usman for his public service and for advancing initiatives that contribute to social harmony, while Abba highlighted the importance of recognizing individuals whose work transcends national borders to promote peace.
