In A shocking turn of events, the Chief Imam of Sokunkpan village in Tsaragi, Edu local government area of Kwara state, Alhaji Abdullahi Audu, has been killed by a mob in a case of alleged vigilantism.

The incident occurred on November 4, 2025, following the death of a 25-year-old community member, Ibrahim Gana, who had been admitted to a hospital and later passed away.

According to reports, Ibrahim Gana’s brothers, Mohammed Shaba and Mahmud Gana, accused the Chief Imam of being responsible for their brother’s demise, sparking a wave of violence that led to the Imam’s brutal killing. Eyewitnesses claim that the mob, allegedly led by the deceased’s brothers, attacked the Imam’s residence with offensive weapons, leaving him no chance of survival.

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the incident and arrested four suspects in connection with the crime. The command’s spokesperson, Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, condemned the act of mob justice, describing it as “criminal and punishable under the law.”

The police command also assured the public that further updates will be provided as investigations into the case progress.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of the incident, many are left wondering what could have led to such a tragic event. “It’s a sad day for our community,” said a resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “We condemn the act of violence and call on the authorities to ensure justice is served.”
