Many of us hesitate to give using the excuse that we don’t have enough to give particularly during the hard times in this part of the world. However, if we think about the rewards Allah and the prophet (s.a.w.s) promised us for giving, we will not hesitate to give whatever little we can. Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.” (Source: Sahih Muslim 2588)
In another hadith, it was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives charity equal to a date from good (halal) earnings – for Allah does not accept anything but that which is good…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1344; Muslim, 1014.)
Facing Kaaba foundation will be providing iftar for some poor Muslims families during this Ramadan. The foundation which is managed by Haroon Balogun has been providing iftar to some Muslim families over the last five years without soliciting funds from any one. This year, and as a result of the growing number of identified needy Muslims who need to benefit from this iftar, the foundation is calling on well meaning Muslims to be part of the programme. Donations can reach: 1000584613 Lotus Bank or call +2348036688535. Your support no matter how little can put smiles on the faces of these Muslims.
Let’s remember that regardless of our financial situations, we all want Allah to spend on us. So, the prophet (s.a.w) said if we want Allah to spend on us, then we should spend on others. Narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’” (al-Bukhaari, 5073; Muslim, 993.)
