NAHCON Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi has appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers, opinion leaders to support the commission in its drive for public enlightenment on the need for quick payment of Hajj fare to meet the deadline set by Saudi Arabia, and in line with the new policy on 2024 hajj.
He said the leaders are well positioned to enhance public enlightenment on the challenges faced by the Commission, expressing hope that with necessary support, the final Hajj fare would not exceed N4,500,000.
Mallam Arabi stated this while addressing the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) Central Council Meeting held at the Justice Legbo Kutigi International Conference Hall, Minna, Niger State, Monday.
Eminent personalities, royal fathers and religious leaders graced the event. His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III and President General, JNI chaired the occasion, while Professor Khalifah Dikwa of the University of Maiduguri served as the Guest Speaker, whose insightful discourse added intellectual depth to the discussions.
On his part, Malam Arabi discussed new policies introduced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in relation to deadline of visa issuance. He stressed on the global economic predicament and role of the Dollar as a determinant of Hajj computation. During the meeting, Nahcon Chairman appealed for the support of attendees in enhancing public enlightenment on the challenges faced by the Commission as well as the need to act fast. He expressed hope that with necessary support, the final Hajj fare would not exceed N4,500,000.
The central discussion was on security and infrastructural decays in Northern Nigeria with an emphasis on collaboration between religious, political, and traditional leaders to forge ahead.
Other participants at the event include, Hon. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, the Niger State Governor represented by his deputy; top Islamic Leaders, including Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, Sheikh Kabiru Gombe, representatives of Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, and other prominent religious leaders nationwide. There were crème of traditional Rulers, business, and political leaders.
The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) is a foremost Islamic body in Nigeria, working towards the promotion of Islamic values and fostering national development.
