The Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola, has called on Muslims to embrace unity and spiritual renewal as they commence the holy month of Ramadan 2026 (1447 A.H).

In a message resonating across Yorubaland, Nigeria, and the global Muslim community, the revered Islamic leader emphasised the sacred month as a time for reflection, charity, and renewed commitment to the teachings of Islam, while urging believers to pray for peace, national progress, and the collective strength of the Ummah.

He urged the faithful to seize the blessings of this holy month through sincere devotion, increased acts of charity, compassion towards the less privileged, and fervent prayers for peace and the continued progress of Nigeria.

Highlighting the critical role of unity within the Muslim Ummah, the Aare Musulumi observed that the strength of Islam is rooted in the bonds of brotherhood and shared purpose among believers.

He called upon Muslims to reject division, foster harmony, and uphold the values of tolerance and mutual respect within their communities.

“As we begin this sacred month, let us remember that Ramadan is not only about abstaining from food and drink, but also about purifying our hearts, strengthening our faith, and reinforcing our unity as one Ummah,” he stated.

The Aare Musulumi further encouraged Muslim leaders, scholars, and young people to use the period to promote peaceful coexistence and contribute to national development, while offering special prayers for Nigeria’s stability, security, and prosperity.
