Covid-19 Response: NASFAT spends N60.9m on the needy •Gives free meal for Eid-il-Fitr celebration

ty, NASFAT recently put smiles on the faces of the needy during Eid-l-Fitr celebration, providing free meals for at least 6500  persons in about one hundred and thirty 130 outlets across the twenty two (22) zones of the society within and outside the country.

The programme, a tradition of the society, was meant to felicitate with Muslims in Nigeria and in the diaspora to mark the end of Ramadan. The programme this year, was extended to zones of the society outside Nigeria.
NASFAT has also, disbursed NN60.9million in cash and food items to the vulnerable in the society, as palliative measure to mitigate the effect of the lockdown and movement restrictions occasioned by the Covid-19 Pandemic ravaging the Country and the world at large.
No fewer than 18,942 households and 113,652 people benefited from the disbursement across the 22 zones of the society over 47 days of the lockdown. Some households got N10,000 while some got food items.
NASFAT ‘Feed a mouth’ programme took the center stage during the month of Ramadan. According to Alhaji AbdulRahman Olarinde, NASFAT Welfare Secretary, the initiative, designed to cater for those intending to fast but have no means, provided sahoor and Iftar meals for the beneficiaries through the fasting period.
Some of the outlets designated for the free meal to celebrate Eid-l-fitr in Lagos zone includes, Alausa community, Ikeja, Ogba, Imota, Epe, Ijora Olopa among others.
