The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (MPWB), has said it has begun registration of 2026 Hajj intending pilgrims with a minimum deposit of N8.5 million.

The board’s announcement is contained in a statement issued on Monday by its Public Relations Officer, Malam Muhammad Aliyu.

Aliyu quoted the Director of the Board, Alhaji Kadiri Edah, as disclosing this at a meeting in Abuja.

The FCT-MPWB director said, “Intending pilgrims who wish to participate in the exercise through the board are to deposit a minimum of N8.5 million only to book for a seat with the Board.’’

According to him, prospective pilgrims are to book for the seat via a bank draft from any commercial bank payable to the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abuja, either before or on Dec. 2.

Edah added that the draft and the international passport of the intending pilgrims should be submitted to officials of the board at any of the six area councils of the territory before the deadline.

According to him, only bank draft will be entertained as no cash payment is allowed while registration is on first-come–first–served basis in line with the principle of fairness in the services of residents of the territory.

He advised intending pilgrims who had deposited funds but could not participate in previous Hajj, and still have their money with the board, to declare their intention before the deadline so a seat could be booked for them in the forthcoming exercise.

He reaffirmed the board’s resolve to improve services for registered pilgrims through new strategies introduced for the 2026 Hajj.

The director also urged intending pilgrims to deal directly with the board and beware of fraudsters requesting additional payments outside the approved Hajj fare. (NAN)
