FOMWAN trains 100 orphans, 200 indigent women on trades in Kebbi

THE Federation of Muslims Women Association of Nigeria ( FOMWAN), Kebbi state chapter, has flagged off a 10-day training for no fewer than 100 orphans, 200 widows, indigent women and youths in the state. 

The State Amirah, Hajia Hauwa Abubakar Zaki led other members of the association to flagged off the training. on Saturday at their secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.

According to her, the idea to engage them on training for self reliance, home manufacturing businesses away from street hawking for married and single men and women was aimed at alleviating poverty and make the home peaceful and joyful for couples and families.

She stated that the survey conducted on the causes of conflicts between married couples indicated that poverty was the root cause of conflicts at homes and in some cases causes marriage dissolutions.

She explained that, the economic situation in the country has made married men unable to meet the financial demands of their wives and children and often times, the wives are either jobless or without any subsitinyg business to support their husbands in running the home.

According to her, this is why FOMWAN came up with the idea to train women both singles and married with a view to improving their economic status.

She stated that the first lady of the state, Dr Zainab Bagudu, was supportive of the programme both in cash and kind, adding that poverty was the root cause of evil.

She hinted that the the beneficiaries will be trained on areas such as  enterpreneuship skills to give them both practical and theoritical aspect of the trades, which include custard making, powdered milk, diapers and cardburies. she said that, the beneficiaries will be taught at least ten different trades that will be manufactured at home with very little capital as low as two thousand five hundred naira as capital, after paying a token of two hundred and fifty naira per trade.
