Gov Yusuf splashes 18 Hajj seats, C-of-Os, cash prizes to winners of 39th Qur’anic recitation competition

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has awarded 18 Hajj seats, 18 Certificates of Occupancy, and ₦12 million to winners of the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition.

This is confirmed in a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, in Kano recently.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Islamic learning and rewarding excellence among Qur’anic scholars.

Top winners, Buhari Sunusi Idris and Fatima Abubakar Lawan, were granted full scholarships to Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

Buhari Sunusi Idris, the overall winner, received ₦2 million, a Hajj seat, and a plot of land.

Fatima Abubakar Lawan and the second- and third-place winners each received ₦1 million, a Hajj seat, and a plot of land.

Participants from Al-Yatama Orphanage Foundation, representing Kano at the competition in Kebbi, received ₦500,000 and ₦200,000 based on rankings, plus Hajj seats.

Yusuf also rewarded their teachers and mentors with Hajj seats and plots of land in recognition of their dedication and support.

He pledged to further support religious education, encourage young talent, and uphold Kano’s leadership in Qur’anic scholarship.

Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Kano, Alh. Aliyu Harazumi Umar thanked the governor for supporting Kano’s successful participation.

Prof. Sambo Jinaidu, Chairman of the Qur’anic Recitation Board, represented by Gwani Mukhtar Al-Hafiz, praised the governor’s commitment to Qur’anic education.

He also congratulated Kano State for emerging as the overall winner of the 2024 national competition. (NAN)
