Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi has said the State Pilgrims Board will begin weekend lectures for the State’s intending pilgrims performing the 2021 Holy pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Executive Secretary, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Rahman Ishola who disclosed this in a statement released in his office yesterday, stated that the lecture was designed to train, re-train and enlighten all the new and returning intending pilgrims on the basic requirements of the Hajj exercise.

He added that the lectures which will kick off on Saturday, May 22, 2021 and hold simultaneously in 18 designated Local Government Areas of the State till the end of June, 2021 is aimed at strengthening the knowledge of the intending pilgrims and also equip them with relevant clues on what the Hajj exercise entails as well as the practices expected of them in the course of performing the holy pilgrimage rites.
While assuring the pilgrims that competent and highly knowledgeable Islamic Scholars (Ulamah) have been assembled to deliver the lectures at the various designated centres, he expressed the determination and commitment of the State Government at ensuring hitch-free and memorable Hajj exercise for all the Pilgrims.
Mr. Ishola advised them to take the lectures seriously in order to Garner relevant Hajj related knowledge and tap from the experiences of lecturers assigned to them in their respective centers in order to help Government achieve it’s set goals and objectives of ensuring that pilgrims know the basic tenet of Islam and have the required knowledge about Hajj. He also added that the lectures have been packaged and recorded into Digital Video Disk (DVD) with a view to encouraging easy understanding of the lectures.
Meanwhile, the Board Secretary appealed to the Ulamah (Islamic Scholars) to focus their attention more on the topics of the lectures, cooperate with the coordinators and avoid any form of extortion of the intending pilgrims in all the Local Government Areas, warning that anyone caught would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
