Hajj 2024: Arabi inaugurates Media Team, urges fair reportage

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON has inaugurated the newly appointed National Media Team, urging all the Saudi-bound journalists to be fair and balance in their reportage of the annual rites.

KaabaNews among other Islamic news platforms will be covering the event in Saudi Arabia.
Over 65,000 pilgrims from different states, FCT and Armed Forces have been registered to perform the annual rites.
Airlifting of pilgrims will commence on May 15, with batch A of Kebbi pilgrims.
Inaugurating the team, the Chairman, CEO of the commission, Malam Jalal Arabi implored the newsmen to be constructive in their criticisms and fair in their reportage of events in the holy land.
According to him: “I owe you a duty to remind you on fair and balanced reportage
“You are most respected and admired partners of our project. You occupy a position that is over burdened. You can make or mar, you can make a nation. Any who knows that will apprecialte your worth.
“I want to remind you on the need to report accurately. We are open to constructive criticism. We expect you do your job most objectively and sincerely.

“I urge you to be participatory, offer your advice where necessary. There is so much confidence in you as journalists as people hope to get the right information from you.
I congratulate you all and I know you will not only make yourself proud but also make respective media institution proud with your reportage,” Arabi said.
Earlier, the Commissioner; Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), Professor Abubakar A Yagawal advised the team members to see their nominations as the wish of Allah and therefore, serve the people with fair and balance information.
He added that”You have to patriotic in your assignment and show presence in all Hajj activities.
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Operations, Inspectorate & Licensing, Prince Anofi Elegushi said apart from covering the event, the journalists need be part of the building process by offering advice where necessary,constructive in their criticisms and helping to build rathan to destroy the nation.
