The Chairman, CEO, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, has reiterated the commitment of the Fourth Board to actualize the eventual formal take off of the Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN).
The Chairman who made this remark during an interactive session with all the vanguards that spearheaded the initiative of the Institute said the Institute is for all Hajj and Umrah operation managers and other interested researchers in the field of pilgrimage.
He added that the effort to actualize the Institute is already yielding positive result as it has successfully passed through all the most tedious stages for its take off.
Alhaji Zikrullah emphasized that what remains for the Institute to fully commence is the last stage of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation which has reached advanced stage for affirmation.

The Chairman hinted on some short terms strategic direction of the Commission to enhance Hajj operation generally, adding that apart from the efforts to establish Hajj Institute, there is also the Hajj Savings Scheme which will metamorphose into multi billion naira venture.
He also pointed out that the full digitalization drive of the Commission’s operation and effort to fully utilize the long years abandoned assets of the Commission across the country are on-going.
In his remarks, Dr. Aliyu Tanko, who is the Coordinator of the Institute, briefly highlighted the history of the struggle to actualize the Institute which according to him started from 2016.
Tanko maintained that having such an Institute in place, becomes necessary in order to meet up with the current digitalization drive on every aspect of human endeavor.
He cited example of Saudi Government’s on-going digitalisation of all its operations and therefore in order not to be left behind, the Institute must be put in place so that Hajj operation managers could have the necessary skills to term themselves as professionals.
He said the last struggle for the actualization of the Institute is fortunate enough to have the current Chairman/CEO of the Commission, who always provides all the seriousness the project deserves and which explains why we are where we are today, said the coordinator.
Also speaking at the occasion, the NAHCON’s Hajj Savings Scheme officer, Alhaji Ishaq Ibrahim Ja’e, who is also one of the vanguards in the struggle to establish the Institute, explained that academic curriculum for the institute is on course to meet the NBTE’s standards and assured that the Commission is ready to receive the NBTE inspectors anytime soon.
Other contributors in the session are the Board’s Committee members of the Institute, in persons of Professor Abdul-Wasi’u Gabbadeen, Professor Mohammed Nasiru Maiturare and Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Jalingo who spoke extensively on the importance for every Muslim to contribute to the success of the Institute for it will be a legacy for Muslims to leave behind. Other contributors in the interactive session are some NAHCON’s Board members, who made their input via zoom video conferencing. Some Management staff of the Commission are also in attendance in order to keep them abreast on the development of the Institute.
