The Jigawa Pilgrims Welfare Board on Tuesday inaugurated a medical team to oversee the health and well-being of to the prospective pilgrims from the state during the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Labbo, said at the inauguration of the team in Dutse that the gesture was part of the early preparations of the board to ensure a safe and healthy pilgrimage for all the intending pilgrims from the state.
Labbo said the team would be responsible for conducting comprehensive medical screenings for all the prospective pilgrims in order to ensure that only those certified fit for travel would embark on the journey to the Holy land.
He explained that the team would provide continuous medical care and support to all the intending pilgrims throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
The director-general, who commended Gov. Umar Namadi for his unwavering support and dedication to the welfare of pilgrims, added that the inauguration of the medical team was a crucial step toward a successful 2026 Hajj operation.
The Head of the medical team, Dr Habibu Abubakar, assured the board and the public that the team was ready to carry out its duties with utmost diligence and professionalism.
Abubakar emphasised that the team, which comprised qualified medical personnel, would work tirelessly to adhere to all the medical guidelines and protocols, prioritising the health as well as safety of the pilgrims in line with established regulations. (NAN)
