Congregational Jummah prayer resumed at the Lekki Central Mosque today with restricted number of worshippers in attendance, in line with the Covid-19 protocols directed by the Lagos State Government.

Only 500 worshippers were admitted for the Jummah prayer despite the mosque’s 5,000-capacity and the government’s directive that all places of worship run at half capacity.
Worshippers were seen maintaining physical distance of at least three feet to one another during the Jummah prayer.
Other Covid-19 protocols including wearing of face masks and washing of hands with soap were also observed by the worshippers.

A statement released by the Publicity Secretary of the Lekki Muslim Ummah (LEMU) Alhaji AbdulFattah Olajide, said the mosque was not reopened on August 7 when the ban on worship centres was lifted by the state government because facilities for the compliance with Covid-19 protocols were still being installed.

According to Olajide, the President of the Lekki Muslim Ummah Dr. Kamoru Omotosho and his Deputy, Dr.
AbdulGaniy Olusola Labinjo expressed satisfaction at level of compliance by worshippers with the Covid-19 protocols.
