THE Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has strongly condemned the ongoing genocide in Gaza, calling it a “heinous” and “unconscionable” act of violence against the Palestinian people. At a press conference held at the Bab-Es-Salaam Orphanage in Lagos, Executive Chairman Disu Kamor urged governments and citizens worldwide to take immediate action to stop the bloodshed.

“We stand here today to condemn the heinous genocide unfolding in Gaza, and to denounce the complicity of Western nations in perpetuating this injustice,” Kamor said. “The international community’s inaction has emboldened Israel’s brutal occupation, resulting in unimaginable suffering for the Palestinian people.”

Kamor emphasized that the situation in Gaza is a humanitarian crisis that requires urgent attention. “The numbers are staggering over 45,000 martyrs in Gaza alone, more than 110,000 injured, thousands more under the rubble, and 2 million Palestinians forcibly displaced,” he said.

MPAC is calling on governments to demand a ceasefire, insisting on an immediate end to hostilities, ensuring the protection of civilians and the facilitation of humanitarian aid. The organization is also urging governments to support Palestinian statehood, recognizing Palestine’s right to self-determination and statehood, in accordance with international law and UN resolutions. Furthermore, MPAC is calling for Israel to be held accountable, imposing sanctions and diplomatic consequences for its egregious human rights abuses and war crimes.
Kamor also urged citizens to join the fight for justice, saying, “This is not a Muslim cause, nor is it a Palestinian cause alone. It is a human cause. We urge you to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, to demand justice and accountability from your leaders, and to support humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.”

Citizens can make a difference by spreading awareness about the Palestinian cause and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, supporting humanitarian organizations providing aid to the Palestinian people, and contacting their elected representatives to demand action in support of Palestinian rights.

Notably, MPAC is supported by about 30 Islamic organisations and media collaborators in this conference, demonstrating a united front in the quest for justice and human rights for the Palestinian people.

“We must remember that numerous Jewish voices also resound in the calls for justice and peace in Palestine, and their voices must not be silenced, “This fight is a fight for the Palestinians to live in peace, freedom, and dignity, free from the ceaseless specter of violence and dispossession,” Kamor said.
