NAHCON chairman mourns passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

In a condolence message, Professor Usman described the death of Sheikh Bauchi as “a monumental loss to the Muslim Ummah,” noting that his influence extended far beyond his immediate family, students, and followers.

“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a great scholar and a guide. He stood for knowledge and righteous conduct. He always reminded us that every Nigerian pilgrim must be treated with dignity and care. His passing has left a void that will be hard to fill,” the NAHCON chairman said.

Professor Usman recalled the pivotal role Sheikh Bauchi played in the growth and reform of the Hajj sector in Nigeria. According to him, the late scholar was a strong advocate for pilgrim welfare, offering counsel that improved religious guidance and spiritual readiness for Nigerians performing Hajj.

“Whenever the Commission needed direction on sensitive matters of faith, his doors were open. His wisdom provided practical solutions that shaped the system we use today to serve pilgrims,” he noted.

The NAHCON chairman prayed for Allah’s mercy on the late scholar, beseeching Allah (SWT) to reward his lifelong service to Islam with Aljannatul Firdaus.

“I pray that Allah grants his family, his followers, and the wider community patience and comfort during this painful moment,” Professor Usman added.
