Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has sworn in seven new High Court Judges and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal, emphasizing the importance of integrity, transparency, and fairness in the discharge of their duties.
At the swearing-in ceremony, Gov. Aliyu urged the new judges and Khadis to “exhibit patience, diligence, and courtesy to litigants, witnesses, and legal officers” and to “avoid abuse of powers of your respective offices”.
He also warned them against allowing personal relationships to influence their judicial decisions and using their offices for personal gains.

“I call on you Judges and Khadis to shun away from corruption in the discharge of your judicial responsibilities,” Gov. Aliyu said. “The NJC, anti-graft agencies, and the state government are watching you; you should not betray the Judiciary.”
The Governor commended the state judiciary for being one of the best in the country, noting that its members have never been found guilty of judicial corruption.
As part of efforts to improve the judiciary, Gov. Aliyu announced that the state government has approved the construction of an additional complex for the State High Court and renovation work on the Sharia Court complex. He also revealed that new vehicles have been purchased for the newly appointed judges and Khadis.
The seven new High Court Judges sworn in are:
- Mariya Haruna Dagon Daji
- Hadiza Sahabi Jaredi
- Shuaibu Ahmed
- Fatima Hassan
- Fatima Saidu Muhammed
- Nura Muhammad Bello
- Abubakar Moyi
The new Khadis include:
- Abdulaziz Muhammad Yar Abba
- Abubakar Lawal
- Ibrahim Bello Sokoto
- Bello Iman Abubakar
- Lawal Muhammad Abibu
- Umar Ibrahim Bodinga
- Umar Kabir Marnona
