The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria Wednesday December 3, 2020, hosted the Association of Muslim Men in Business and Professions known as the COMPANION. The National Amir of Companion, Alhaji Thabit Wale Sonaike led the delegation for the courtesy visit at the NAHCON’s headquarters in Abuja.
Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, while welcoming the delegation, appreciated their effort for stepping up to the Commission for synergy and team work progress towards providing better services within the Nigerian Hajj operation sector.
On his part, Alhaji Thabit congratulated and commended the Chairman and NAHCON board members on their successes since assumption of duty. He said “having watched your performance in the last nine months we find it necessary to commend you and challenge you to do more. The Amir expressed that goal of the Companion’s broad is to earn the pleasure of Allah through their commitment to all round human development based on the principles of Islam as enunciated by Allah in the Qur’an. The Amir informed the Commission that the association’s aspiration was to practice and present Islam not only as a spiritual life but human development as a whole. He also revealed that the Companion has six districts in Nigeria through which it carries out its activities on reaching out to people through da’wah, education, economic and political empowerment, strategic and community engagement. They also promote welfare of the ummah, foster unity and evolve credible leadership for the ummah.

Alhaji Sonaike said that they will work, support and pray for the progress of the Commission at all times. The Companion will also monitor the performances and activities of the commission for support towards achieving the success of the office. The leader of the Companion’s prayed that, the Commission reduces the Hajj fare, reduces number of days spent by pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, actualizes its determination to establish the Hajj Training Institute and digital transformation of Hajj operation in Nigeria and the take-off of Hajj Saving Scheme.
The National Amir commended the Chairman for the initiative to commence Saudi Immigration screening of Nigerian pilgrims in Nigeria known as Makkah Route Initiative (MRI), and the decision to refund the Hajj fare of Pilgrims for the aborted 2020 Pilgrimage caused by the covid-19 pandemic. He prayed for an excellent service delivery and performance during the Hajj 2021. He assured the Commission of their support and prayers towards achieving a successful Hajj operation.
The Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan also expressed his appreciation towards their prayers, and said that during his tenure, there will be no discrimination towards achieving the success of Hajj operation in Nigeria as we all are Muslims, with same goal. We will interact not based on who you are, but what you do.
The Commissioners Alhaji Nura Yakasai and Alhaji Hardawa assured them of the Management’s priority of enhancing its staff capacity building for the betterment and improvement of Hajj operation in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, following the election of new executive members of the Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) for the seat of zonal president, deputy zonal president, treasurer, financial secretary, organizing secretary, and PRO, that was conducted in the Commissions headquarters conference hall, the new leadership visited NAHCON to appreciate and show their gratitude to the NAHCON’s Management for the cordial relationship shown to them.
The Chairman’s representative during the courtesy call, Commissioner Operations, Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa, in his welcome address congratulated the new members and prayed that Allah supports and guides them, and expressed that NAHCON is willing to work with them as partners.
The leader of the delegation Alhaji Usman Ambursa is the newly elected Zonal President after the demise of Alhaji Salihu Butu. He informed that, they as the new board of AHUON have come to familiarize themselves with the commission and to appreciate the kind gesture shown to them by the commission for providing them with its facility to carryout their election. Alhaji Ambursa also revealed that they have lots of requests against challenges the association is faced with, and will present it to the commission. He assured the commission of synergy, support, and assistance for a successful Hajj operation and promised to strategize on the issue of abscondment and all lapses the Association is faced with. The Deputy President Alhaji Ismail said that the Association requires the support of the Commission on screening of companies before issuance of license to help them achieve their goals of wiping out mischiefs within their association.
After congratulating the new members, Alhaji Shamaki advised the AHUON members to comply by the Commission’s regulations by providing and satisfying the pilgrims with services they paid for. Similarly, Alhaji Bashir Jazuli called on the new members of the AHUON to step up their services by giving three different packages for affordability and doing away with their old ways as it is primitive.
