President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, a critical gathering of regional leaders aimed at addressing the escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The Nigerian leader landed at the King Abdulaziz International Airport at 10 a.m. local time, where he was warmly received by Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Abdulaziz, the deputy governor of the Riyadh region.
The summit, convened by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, comes at a pivotal moment in the region’s history, with the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict dominating the agenda.
According to Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the meeting will tackle critical regional issues, with a focus on finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
President Tinubu is expected to take the stage to reiterate Nigeria’s call for an immediate ceasefire and push for renewed international efforts to revive the two-state solution.
“During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution,” Onanuga stated.

“Nigeria will also advocate for renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace in the region,” he added.
The Joint Arab-Islamic Summit commences on Monday, November 11, 2024, and will bring together leaders from across the Arab and Islamic world to address the region’s most pressing challenges.
It was gathered that the key priorities of the leaders’ conference include halting the aggression, protecting civilians, providing support to the Palestinian and Lebanese people, unifying positions, and exerting pressure on the international community to take decisive steps to end the ongoing attacks and establish lasting peace and stability in the region.
As tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, the summit offers a critical opportunity for regional leaders to come together and find a path towards peace and stability.
