The 1442 Umrah season will begin soon all things being equal. This was revealed by Haramain Sharifain, just after the President of the Haramain, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais directed the Presidency’s Agency for Planning to prepare a comprehensive plan for the upcoming Umrah season 1442.
It was gathered that there will be meetings aimed at fashioning the modalities for the new season. Also, it was not clear whether international pilgrims will be allowed to begin this new Umrah season which commences next week in Muharram.

It will be recalled that on 26 February 2020, Saudi Arabia suspended Umrah, due to concerns over the rapid spread of coronavirus. After the reporting of the first case of coronavirus in Saudi Arabia, on 4 March 2020, the Riyadh government banned Umrah pilgrimage to the holy cities of Medina and Mecca for Saudi citizens and residents living in the kingdom.
Before the coronavirus pandemic, in 2019 specifically, the number of umurah pilgrims in the holy land reached no fewer than 8 million pilgrims from all over the world. According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah statistics, the number of Umrah visas issued until 25 Ramadan 1440 H (May.30, 2019) reached 7,584,424 visas.
